Unravelling collaboration mechanisms for green logistics: the perspectives of shippers and logistics service providers

Purpose The green logistics literature remains undecided on how collaboration between shippers (i.e. buyers) and service providers (LSPs) may facilitate practices (GLPs). This paper identifies two types of mechanisms, relation specific knowledge sharing, to systematically examine their influence facilitating the different GLPs – as seen by versus LSPs. Design/methodology/approach Survey responses 169 162 LSPs in Sweden were collected analysed using exploratory- confirmatory factor analysis, followed multiple regression analysis. Findings findings reveal that neither actors consistently favour a certain type mechanisms for all GLPs. Although it was found both share same view role some GLPs, views took contrasting forms others. Research limitations/implications study contributes incorporating trilateral distinction present recommendations based (1) mechanism at play, (2) actor's perspective (3) GLP question.
